Documentário mostra trajetória política do ex-presidente José Sarney

The third episode of the documentary "José and Sarney - 90 Years" shows how José Sarney was seen from the perspective of a politician. The perspective of someone who was always ahead of his time. His achievements as former governor of Maranhão, the state's progress during his four years in office, and the recognition of a politician with nearly six decades of public service. The alliances that elected José Sarney the most-voted opposition representative in 1958. The documentary shows Sarney discussing the importance of the Port of Itaqui for the state's integration and other projects that transformed the future of Maranhão during his administration. The documentary presents memories of this unique moment in the country's history, the challenges of governing, and the recognition of the man who led Brazil's democratic transition. Sarney assumed the government temporarily after Tancredo Neves' hospitalization, and definitively on April 21, 1985, after his death. He was the first civilian president after more than twenty years of military dictatorship in Brazil. The documentaries, produced by the Maranhão Academy of Letters, were filmed in 2020, before the pandemic, to commemorate the former president's 90th birthday.
