¿CÓMO ENCONTRAR A DIOS EN MEDIO DEL DOLOR Y LA PÉRDIDA? | SIXTO PORRAS Y WENDY BELLO
"Under His Wings" is Wendy Bello's new book, an invitation to read the Book of Ruth as a story that reveals how God's providence continues to work even in the darkest moments, and how taking refuge under His wings is the answer to pain, loss, and uncertainty. It's a story of people who lost everything and who, without knowing it, were part of God's greater plan. In this episode, Sixto Porras talks with Wendy Bello, author of the book "Under His Wings," to explore what the book of Ruth teaches about processing grief, staying connected to community, and finding God when His work seems invisible. The episode answers questions many believers silently ask themselves: Where is God when I suffer? How do I continue to believe when tragedy strikes? How to know if grief is affecting your view of God: Naomi arrived in Bethlehem saying, "Call me Mara, bitterness," because she was evaluating her identity through the lens of her circumstances. When suffering redefines who you think you are, that's a warning sign. Bitterness toward God in grief is understandable and biblical. Naomi expressed it. Job expressed it. But remaining there closes off the ability to see God's goodness that continues to operate. Moments of crisis reveal what you truly believe about who God is. Not what you say you believe, but what you experience when the answer to your prayer doesn't come. Defining your identity by your circumstances instead of by Christ is the central error that unnecessarily prolongs suffering. How to process pain without turning away from God and without repeating Naomi's isolation: Taking refuge under the wings of the Most High is not a decorative metaphor. In the book of Ruth, it is a concrete decision: to return, to come back, not to remain in emotional Moab. Isolation in pain is a trap. We were created for community. Loneliness distorts reality and gives the enemy the best possible scenario. God's providence doesn't eliminate suffering, but it works within it. Ruth didn't arrive at Boaz's field by chance. Boaz didn't pass through the city gate at the exact moment by coincidence. Seeking help, accepting advice from someone more experienced, and trusting in God's character even when His plans are not visible are the practical responses that the book of Ruth models. Ruth's story points to Christ: someone who paid the price to bring us back home, who invited the stranger to His table, who erased the lines that separated peoples. The book of Ruth has a happy ending, but its protagonists didn't know that while they were living through chapter one. That's precisely what makes it so relevant to real life. Wendy Bello and Sixto Porras conclude the episode with an invitation: if you are in your own chapter one, if everything seems dark and unanswered, the God of the book of Ruth is still the same. His goodness doesn't depend on whether you can see it right now. The story isn't over.
