The lifespan of the filter will depend on the driving environment. We recommend visually inspecting the hybrid battery air filter once per year. If you see significant dirt accumulation, the filter must be cleaned/vacuumed or completely replaced. This will prolong the lifespan of the hybrid battery. You have to inspect the air intake periodically. If it is very dusty or you get the warning message on the main display saying that “Maintenance is required for Traction Battery Cooling Parts” you need to clean the air intake and the filter underneath. If the air intake and the filter are clogged, this will affect the cooling of the hybrid battery. Charging and discharging will be limited, the distance that the vehicle can travel on a hybrid battery will be reduced, and your fuel economy will be reduced as well.
