Bush Institute Equal rights and status for women and girls are essential to prosperity. Without the full participation of women across all levels of society, we all fail to realize our true potential and productivity. Additionally, the oppression of women in many countries around the world is a large contributor to perpetuating extremism and gender-based violence. However, despite global consensus on the integral value of gender empowerment, true equality is far from a reality, and has yet to reach the international urgency and immediacy of other causes. As a global community, we face the daunting declaration by the World Economic Forum that it may be over 100 years until full gender equality will be realized. This panel at the 2016 Concordia Summit discussed the impact of gender equality on political, social, and economic issues. Concordia is the leading public-private sector convener, with the Annual Summit one of the most important global gatherings of C-suite executives, heads of state, government officials, nonprofit leaders, and entrepreneurs. https://concordia.net/   / concordiasummit     / concordiasummit     / concordiasummit     / concordiasummit
