how to remove an engine from an old Vespa PK 125 XL Elestart from 1987

Well, that escalated quickly. What was supposed to become my summer daily turned into another project. The engine of my newly acquired 1987 Piaggio Vespa PK 125 XL Elestart wasn't running properly, most likely due to old seals that allowed air to enter the engine where it shouldn't. The only way to fix it is to split the engine cases apart. Since I'm busy with other things, I'll leave the rebuild to a company that has done this thousands of times before. I just need to send them the engine — which means I have to pull it out of the Vespa first :)
