From its humble 1995 launch in a parking lot in Nampa, Idaho, to its golden era with bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, No Doubt, Sublime, Eminem, Avenged Sevenfold, Less Than Jake, and countless others, Warped Tour became the beating heart of American punk and alternative music culture. It was hot, chaotic, unpredictable, affordable, and unforgettable — with seven stages blasting at once, bands selling their own merch, nonprofits lining the grounds, and that legendary inflatable schedule board deciding your entire day. But like every great scene, Warped Tour had a turning point. As the music industry changed, pop-punk and emo faded from the mainstream, streaming reshaped the economics for mid-level bands, and controversies raised difficult questions about safety and accountability, the tour began to lose the community energy that made it special. In 2017, founder Kevin Lyman announced that 2018 would be the final full cross-country run. And then… it came back.
