We're talking about Tomo Aochi, a member of Osaka Toin High School's "Strongest Generation." In 2018, as a third-year high school student, he played second base and right field, achieving the feat of winning back-to-back championships at Koshien and the spring and summer tournaments alongside fellow teammates Ryo Neo (currently with Chunichi Dragons), Kyodai Fujiwara (currently with Lotte Marines), and Takuya Nakagawa (currently a fourth-year Waseda University student with Tokyo Gas). He's now a fourth-year university student, nearing graduation. He continued playing baseball at Doshisha University, a powerhouse in the Kansai region, and served as captain in his final year. After four years at university, he decided to retire and pursue a new path. Why did this 22-year-old, who has devoted himself to baseball since childhood, decide to retire? We visited him on the Doshisha University campus where he spent four years, and asked him about his memories of his time at Osaka Toin High School, where he experienced both joy and pain, the struggles of playing college baseball, his reasons for retirement, and his future goals.
