Markleeville & Monitor Pass - Traveling CA 89 from South Lake Tahoe to Hwy 395

Join me as I drive along Ca 89, from South Lake Tahoe all the way to the Eastern Sierra Nevada Hwy, 395. This drive takes you past the junction of 88 to Kirkwood. Traveling onward to Markleeville via Ca 89, you cross into the Toiyabe National Forest and follow the Carson River for much of the way. As you make your way into Markleeville, the road takes you through the devastation of the Tamarack fire from mid 2021. Thanks to the valiant efforts of the firefighters, downtown Markleeville was spared. I stop in town to enjoy some of the local fare at Cutthroat Brewing Company. From there I continue on and over Monitor Pass, one of the more recent passes of the Sierra Nevada. I am met with stunning views of the tops of Eastern Sierra Nevada Peaks. I take CA 89 all the way to where it terminates at the Eastern Sierra Hwy, 395 near Topaz Lake.
