EN – Mathew Perret – A Comedy of Errors

*Conference Interpreter, Trainer, and Writer/Performer of Comedy* 1. Interpreter: AIIC member, mainly EU. A: English B: Spanish C: French, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, Galician. 2. Trainer: Specialised in English "B", and the Skills of an Actor in Interpreting. Former Faculty Member at Shanghai International Studies University, and trainer at EU universities and for AIIC Training worldwide. *3. Writer/Performer:* Equity member, numerous appearances at Edinburgh Fringe. Published and performed comic verse, fronted a Dadaist musical cabaret, and co-wrote an award-winning play about 1960s British satirists. Background: Matthew has a degree in Modern Languages (French and Spanish, with Catalan) from The Queen's College, Oxford. He spent two years at the University of Granada (Spain) engaged in literary research and translation, as a Heath Harrison Senior Travelling Scholar of the University of Oxford. He trained as an interpreter in-house at the European Commission in Brussels, and has worked for the EU institutions as both staff interpreter and freelance (with domicile in London, Rome and Berlin). He is currently on the staff of DG LINC, the European Parliament's interpreting service.
