GeoCrete® - Stabilization and Immobilization Cement Additive
Van Mannekus and Terrastab formed an intensive cooperation since 2003. Van Mannekus produces the GeoCrete® additive in their own production facility in Schiedam, The Netherlands. Stabilization of existing or natural soils with cement is a problem because of the humus acids (especially fulvic and carbon acids) that are in organic matter. These acids will block the hydration of cement almost completely. Applying GeoCrete® as an additive to cement, like Terrastab BV does for a decade now, neutralizes the humus acids in such a way that the hydration of cement in the stabilization (or immobilization) is not blocked. GeoCrete® is an additive to cement and can be mixed together with cement and soils. It has an off -- white to grayish colour which exists of alkaline -- and alkaline earth elements. GeoCrete® and cement together allow an environmental friendly transition of the existing soil into a newly build concrete like structure. Unlike concrete, in which short crystalline structures are build (that's why such a construction will crack easily and large surfaces need to be reinforced or the cracking controlled), GeoCrete® allows long crystalline structures to be build which gives the construction high bearing capacities, elastic modules, the tensile strength. The construction also becomes water impermeable which enhances the frost resistance. GeoCrete® neutralizes most fulvic and carbon acids in the soil and stabilizes soils with high humus percentages, slurry seals and fly ashes. GeoCrete® consists of only natural components and complies to the Dutch Standards for soil quality. Terrastab website: http://www.terrastab.nl/ GeoCrete® website: http://www.geocrete.net/
