First worn by Napoleon’s fiancée, Désirée, who later became Queen of Sweden, the parure journeyed through royal dynasties and reached Denmark in 1869 through Désirée’s great-granddaughter, Princess Lovisa. Crown Princess Mary revived this legacy by wearing the rubies at her 2004 wedding, linking her to centuries of royal power and legitimacy. Though many European monarchies have faded or now serve ceremonial roles, their extraordinary jewels remain, embodying visible signs of royal dignity and history.
