It’s a pleasure to share with you today Episode 12 of Phoebe St. LIVE featuring Hamilton shoegaze rockers, BASEMENT REVOLVER! @basementrevolver Nim @nim.agalawatte Jon @jonathanmalstrom Will @swarleyprime Chris @chrisyhurn I met this crew a few years ago when Dearly Beloved was doing dates with Bass Drum of Death in Canada. They were also on the bill. It was a short run of six shows and it crescendoed nicely with a banger of a night in Toronto that saw most crash on couches at Phoebe St. or take early morning Ubers back to a hotel, followed by a drunken, cheerful night of good-byes in Hamilton. Good vibes all around. Imagine my surprise to hear from Chris, lead singer of Basement Revolver, three years later, apologizing. In this episode, we find out why. Getting set to record an album of new material on their own live at a cottage this summer, the band took the time to stop by and share not only insight to that but also where their new tunes are at currently as they prepare to track them. These are all brand new songs. Just in the demo phase, so we are the first to hear them. A beautiful thing from a beautiful band, making for an honest, exclusive and vulnerable performance (and conversation) that is very much in keeping with the spirit of the show. Enjoy!
