Why You Should Watch Micro Budget Films as a Filmmaker
Letterboxd link to my ongoing list: https://letterboxd.com/joshbail3y/lis... Today, I'm discussing 10 great micro budget feature films I've watched and why I think aspiring filmmakers should be watching more micro budget films. EDIT: I'm an idiot. Incorrectly said that Jeremy Gardner directed Blue Ruin and Green Room. Jeremy Saulnier directed those. Somehow I merged the Jeremys in my mind. Sorry Jeremys... EDIT 2: I recently found out that the Blair Witch Project was actually made for $300,000, which doesn't fit on this list. Somehow the numbers have been made to seem smaller than they were by the internet over time. And while the fact that it was shot on film does add a large expense that we don't have to factor in now, the rest of the budget is still well over the $100k mark. All of these films were made with $100,000 or less. We'll discuss the smart decisions films these filmmakers made in order to execute these stories with little money. Spoiler: Casting, Locations, Genre, and Runtime all play huge roles. 00:00 Intro 01:05 10. Upstream Color 02:00 9. Pi 02:23 8. The Blair Witch Project 02:42 7. Coherence 03:18 6. Krisha 04:15 5.
