Amos N. Wilson | The Psychological Effects of Enslavement: Past to Present
This relatively brief lecture, 'The Psychological Effects of Enslavement', was originally presented and recorded in 1994 and provides a general overview of the enduring psychological and cultural impact of slavery and oppression on the character of black/Afrikan people and their societies, as well as on their cognitive, learning and behavioral styles and perceptions and interpretations of the world (i.e., their worldview). Wilson begins by emphasizing the importance of analyzing problems within proper context, and ends the lecture tying in the relevance of what he calls psychohistory (of oppression) to the issue of Afrikan-centered education (the subject of a forthcoming book). Note: The image used in this video is of the cover of the latest publication, 'The Psychology of Self-Hatred and Self-Defeat', a 5-part lecture series, newly edited and transcribed. You can purchase it at the official site (www.afrikanworldinfosystems.co) or from your local black bookstore (if they have it). Enjoy the lecture!
