A burned-out glow plug will have a much higher resistance than a working one. A simple multimeter can be used to check the resistance of a glow plug to determine if it's still working. ℹ️ Set the multimeter to measure resistance in the 200 ohm range. Check the resistance between the ground points to determine the resistance of the probes themselves. Then check the resistance between the ground point and the glow plug pin. The lower the reading, the better. ✅ A working glow plug has a resistance of less than 1 ohm, usually 0.5 ohm. ❌ A burned-out glow plug has a higher resistance. The video shows a reading above 50 ohms. 🚗 The video shows a VW Golf MK7 with a 2.0TDI CRLB engine. Glow plugs are very easily accessible. However, there are cars where the spark plugs are located under the intake manifold (e.g., BMW with the N47 engine) or under the EGR cooler (2.0 HDI DW10 BTED). In such cases, you can trace the spark plug harness, disconnect it, and measure the resistance using a section of the harness. 💻 More advanced engine control units can perform a #test and detect a blown spark plug. A diagnostic test is performed at start-up. If the spark plug's parameters are out of range, a warning light may illuminate on the dashboard, and an error will be logged in the control unit. 0:00 Glow Plug Measurement 1:10 Glow Plug Counting Sequence 2:16 Meter Setup 3:02 Measuring Probe Resistance 3:15 Glow Plug Measurement 3:30 Glow Plug OK 3:47 Glow Plug Burned 🔗 mr-fix:    / mrfixpl   🔗 Facebook:   / lonacznik
