A freedom that frontman Treichler first explored as a teenager, between the realities of life as a rebellious punk and a classical guitar student at the conservatory, between sampling devices and four-track cassette decks. By the late 1980s, they were playing their way onto the front pages of the biggest British music magazines and into the hearts of even bigger stars. From David Bowie to U2, everyone loved the brutal sound of the French-speaking Swiss band. America too. The Young Gods toured the States and shared backstage with Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails. "At that age, you don't think about what you're doing or why something works—you just do it," says frontman Franz Treichler in an interview with SRF. In the 1990s, they became a legend. Whether interpreting Kurt Weill or weaving techno into their sound, The Young Gods skillfully avoided their comfort zones and, to this day, continued to excel. "Of course, substances were involved at times," says Franz Treichler—but we carry the most exciting drug within ourselves: "Our sound suggests a state of intoxication without taking drugs." 00:00 Intro 00:35 Before "The Young Gods" 03:24 How the sound of "The Young Gods" was created 08:15 Success outside of Switzerland 11:15 "The Young Gods" continue to develop 14:14 The band changed, the friendships remained 15:23 Fran Treichler sees herself as an "anti-capitulator" 16:11 Mid-life crisis at 80? #srf3 #TheYoungGods #FranzTreichler #Interview ____________________ 📱 Visit SRF 3 on these channels: ► https://www.srf3.ch ►   / srf3   ____________________ Our social media netiquette applies to comments on the SRF 3 YouTube channel 👉 https://www.srf.ch/social-netiquette.
