The suspect is also suspected of stealing a donation box from a meunasah (mosque) in Lhokseumawe. AS was arrested on Friday (April 24, 2026) at 7:15 PM WIB on Jalan Merdeka Barat, Kuta Blang Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe. The seized evidence included a shoulder bag, an Infinix Smart 6 HD cellphone, three wallets containing the victim's identification, and other items. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Lhokseumawe Police, Bustani, explained that the investigation began with a suspect stealing a sling bag belonging to a worshipper during Asr prayers at the Baiturrahman Mosque in Lhokseumawe on Friday afternoon. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the video circulated on social media. Several hours later, the suspect was arrested. The suspect confessed to the thefts at five places of worship: three in Lhokseumawe and two in Banda Aceh. In Lhokseumawe, the thefts took place at the Baiturrahman Mosque, the Meunasah Darussalam Mosque, and the Islamic Center Mosque. In Banda Aceh, the suspect committed the thefts at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque and the Ulee Lheu Mosque. The stolen items included a bag, a cell phone, a wallet containing documents, sandals, pants, and a donation box containing Rp 32,000.
