"The Right Side of History" | Exodus 19:2-8 | Pastor Huebel

What does it really mean to be on "the right side of history"? Politicians claim to know where history is heading, but Pastor Huebel turns to Exodus 19 to show that history has a Driver, and that God alone knows where it ends. Drawing a line from God's promise to Abraham through 500 years of waiting, slavery, and deliverance, this message reminds us that the Lord always keeps His word, sees the whole picture when we see only one piece, and is bringing all things to their conclusion at the throne of Jesus Christ. Scripture References: The Old Testament reading and sermon text is Exodus 19:2-8. The Epistle is Romans 5:6-13, and the Holy Gospel is Matthew 9:35 through 10:20. Along the way the sermon also draws on Genesis 12, the accounts of Joseph and of Ruth and Boaz, 2 Peter 3, and Job 19:25. Key Themes: God's control of history, God's faithfulness to His promises, His timing versus ours, our small piece of the larger puzzle, the new Israel and royal priesthood, and looking up as the end draws near.
