Spring Trip 2025
Better late than never—Spring Trip 2025 is officially on! Rolling through Dover, Shawn (@sintax77) and I set off for the Wellsboro area, eager for a five-day escape to the cabin. It’s been six months since our last visit, and the anticipation is real. We arrived Tuesday afternoon, the pickup loaded down with a new 220-watt solar panel, plus plenty of deer feed and minerals. After checking the game cameras and putting out the minerals, it was time for some quick burgers and a couple of movies. Unfortunately, the rain has a standing invitation to our trips—it’s been relentless the past years, and 2025 is proving no different. But you roll with it. After a hearty scrapple and egg breakfast, we tackled some indoor chores and got the solar panel prepped to make installation smoother when we could finally step outside. By Thursday, the skies finally gave us a break, and we wasted no time installing the Newpowa solar panel. Instantly, our solar intake doubled, maxing out at 420 watts when the sun peeked through for a solid half hour. When the Chairman arrived later that day, the TV stayed off. We gathered our chairs, settled in, and talked late into the night—nothing beats reconnecting and sharing stories well past midnight. The food, as expected, was top-notch. We kicked things off with burgers, crispy chicken thighs, and chili, followed by a massive tomahawk rib-eye packed with a garlic and onion surprise. And, of course, no trip is complete without hitting Tony’s for pizza and wings. Saturday’s dinner wrapped up at The Roost on Main Street. Pine Creek was in our favor this year, offering cold waters ideal for casting. We reeled in trout, a small-mouth bass, and a few fall fish—good fishing, great laughs, and plenty of antics out on the water. Afternoon indulgence? Coffee and whoopee pies from Stoney Creek General Store—endless flavors, all dangerously delicious. The trip wrapped up with Shawn, Mike, and me getting the pickups washed and grabbing Dunkin’ coffee for the ride home. Another great adventure in the books!
