Often, it's simply taken for granted that Gmail is used, and in fact, there's a bit of a stigma against Yahoo and Hotmail. However, more recently, Gmail has been losing significant market share, primarily to Apple. In fact, in the last year, Gmail's market share has dropped from 35.25% to 27.95%.
