Blue Bayou - Ukulele Play Along

Here's an Ukulele Play Along cover of Blue Bayou, written by Roy Orbison (and Joe Melson). It was an international hit for Roy back in the early sixties. The song later became a big hit for Linda Ronstadt in 1977, and truly became her signature song thereafter. I kind of do a hybrid of the two versions, adding an extra chorus as Linda did. It’s a perfect song for the Ukulele! Simple chords, and a nice 'island feel' of the song. This is a good beginner song. I do insert some "sus chords" between the verses (can't help myself!), notably Dsus2 and Dsus4, but decided to just stick with the D chord diagram for the song. The sus's are a more intermediate feature, at least to me. If you're an intermediate player, you probably deal with sus's all the time, and will recognize them when you hear them. Beginners can just play the straight D with full satisfaction of sounding great! As I was recording this, I realized I had on a black shirt and had put on a black hat -- only the sunglasses were missing to make this a good homage to Roy Orbison. So I put 'em on and the rest is history ... hope you enjoyed it. I did! ARE YOU A LEFTY? OR RIGHTY? OR WHAT? Anyone notice that I play left-handed – but I play a right-handed ukulele? Yes, it’s upside down, with the high G on the bottom and the A on the top. Good luck figuring out the chords I’m playing. But that's why the chord diagrams are there. Pay attention to them. And then You can at least hear how I play it, watch my strumming pattern, see where I stop and start in the song, etc ...
