Ghosting occurs when someone suddenly stops all communication with another person without warning or explanation. It is a common complaint gay men have about dating or hook up apps. This video examines how to manage ghosting among gay men on social media. Dr. Davidson discusses coping with and preventing gay ghosting on social media in the second part of his series. He explains ghosting as abruptly ending communication without explanation and highlights that it is common on dating and hookup apps. Davidson advises not to take ghosting personally and suggests transitioning conversations off the app quickly to video chats or in-person meetings to minimize ghosting. He also recommends avoiding using these apps for urgent hookups and suggests uninstalling them to meet people face-to-face, as was common before social media. Davidson notes that baby boomers had more sex and better interpersonal skills due to real-life interactions.
