In this video, you'll learn everything required for the construction of gabions using hexagonal steel mesh with triple twist. Gabions function as gravity walls, meaning they work under their own weight. They are classified into four classes depending on the wire coating: Class 1, coated with zinc or galvanized; Class 2, coated with an alloy of zinc, aluminum, and rare earth elements; Class 3, Class 1 gabions additionally coated with PVC; and Class 4, Class 2 gabions, coated with PVC. You'll also learn the mesh openings, minimum wire diameters, templates, and ties, and the characteristics of the filling stones. These can be boulders or quarry stones. Ideally, crushed stone should be used, i.e., with fractured faces measuring a minimum of 10 cm and a maximum of 20 cm, arranged manually. You'll also learn the tests that must be met for approval.
