The dates for the next Onbashira Festival at Suwa Taisha Shrine, which is held once every seven years, have been announced. The Suwa Taisha Grand General Council, which oversees the festival, held a press conference and announced that the next Yamadashi at Kamisha will be held from April 1st to 3rd, 2028, and at Shimosha from April 8th to 10th. The Satobiki procession has been set for May 3rd to 5th at Kamisha and May 12th to 14th at Shimosha. The last festival, in 2022, was held in its usual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the highlight of the event, "Kiotoshi," in which the pillar is slid down a steep slope, was canceled as an infection prevention measure. The dates were announced one year earlier than usual to allow sufficient time for preparation for the next festival.
