Von Davos nach Arosa auf SOTA-Gipfeljagd – Valbellahorn, HB/GR-267 + Schiesshorn, HB/GR-279

Wire are Carine, HB9FZC, and René, HB9NBG, both licensed CEPT Class A amateur radio operators. As passionate mountaineers, we have been exploring the Swiss Alps on foot together for over 20 years. Ten years ago, we discovered the SOTA (Sunset On The Air) mountain radio diploma program, which gave us a completely new and fascinating perspective on amateur radio operation as well as the planning and execution of mountain tours. As SOTA activators, we have discovered many mountain peaks that we would probably never have known existed without SOTA. This often leads to spontaneous, challenging, and extended mountain tours – for example, in September 2025, we started in Davos with the goal of reaching Arosa, climbing and activating the Valbellahorn (HB/GR-267) and the Schiesshorn (HB/GR-279) on a 31km mountain tour with over 2,000 meters of ascent and just under 2,000 meters of descent. Be amazed by our report!
