Hidden Gem in Prättigau? Exploring the Wild Schrabach Ravine! Looking for a beautiful, less technical hike that combines a wild canyon, incredible views, and a world monument? This 16 km loop from Schiers has it all. Save this Video for your next weekend adventure! Here is how the route goes: We started right at the train station in Schiers and walked through the village toward the Schrabach Ravine. After passing a gravel quarry, you enter a stunning, untouched canyon. The trail follows a steady, wide forest road deeper and deeper into the gorge. Tip: Keep an eye out for a small hut with a fountain along the way—this is your very last chance to refill your fresh water! The canyon gets narrower until you reach the junction to Schuders. You can choose between a steep mountain trail or the winding road. I took the road, which remains very easy to walk. Once you arrive in Schuders, you are rewarded with jaw-dropping views over the ravine and the Rätikon mountain range! The best place to soak it in? The cozy Berggasthof "Alte Post". The Descent: Head down via the main road back toward Schiers. There are a few steep shortcut trails along the way, but you can easily skip them if you prefer. On the way down, you will pass the spectacular Salginatobel Bridge, an official world monument! Shortly after, a trail leads you back down to the canyon hut, and you follow the familiar path back to the station. Finish with a splash: End your hike with a refreshing dip in the cold Schrabach river! ⚠️ SAFETY NOTE: During heavy thunderstorms, flash floods can surge up onto the trail in the ravine.
