How to change Mini Cooper S Engine Oil & Filter Without getting Dirty

Leave it longer and the oil breaks down, especially at high engine temperatures, and stops protecting the engine properly. The filter cap bolt has a hard stop — once it stops dead, it's tight. Don't force it further. Keep a plastic bag ready before you remove the filter cap, so the old filter goes straight into the bag with zero drips.
