Mantenimiento válvula PCV X-Trail 2003

The PCV valve is a non-return valve that connects the crankcase to the intake manifold. PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve. In other words, it releases the pressure generated in the crankcase by the piston being activated and the resulting increase in temperature inside the engine. Therefore, the PCV valve allows the passage of oil and hydrocarbon vapors generated in the crankcase, expelling them into the intake manifold. These vapors then re-enter the combustion chamber to become part of the air-fuel mixture. To achieve complete combustion, the ECU adjusts the mixture to ensure optimal performance. This will lower crankcase pressure, reducing the risk of gasket blowouts and preventing further emissions of polluting gases.
