“Homeless in the mountains; no man to support, no money for bread, no water for tomorrow.” This is the summary of all the bitterness that has befallen Meskhki and his disabled daughter, Zahra. They struggled for days in the heart of the cold stones of the mountains so that Meskhki could reach the farmland to feed his daughter’s hungry stomach. But the oppression there did not stop. After hours of grueling work under the scorching sun, they not only trampled on his meager wages, but also drove him off the land with insults. With wet eyes and empty hands, Meskhki was forced to spend that dark night in the same rocky desert until morning. When morning came, he gathered up the meager belongings of their lives and moved from that cruel place. Now, amidst the silent noise of the mountains, they have not a piece of bread for Zahra nor a sip of water to quench her burning thirst. There is no man to support them, no kind voice to encourage them. Their only refuge is to beg the operator for a tomorrow when perhaps water and bread will arrive.
