Gold Leaf 101: How To Gold Leaf A Picture Frame Crafting with gold leaf is gorgeous and easy! We'll show you how to apply gold leaf adhesive, how to handle the sheets of real gold, how to polish the gold leaf, and how to seal your project. Gold leafing is so fun and you’ll be gold leafing everything! To get started in gold leafing you will need gold leaf sheets and gold leaf adhesive sizing. Most craft stores sell both the gold leaf and the glue (adhesive sizing). We also recommend getting gold leaf sealer to prevent the gold leafed area from tarnishing. To apply the gold leaf you will need a small craft paint brush. We will show you how to paint the glue onto the picture frame. Then we will show you how to apply the sheets of real gold leaf to the tacky areas. Gold leaf sticks well to gold leaf adhesive and any pieces that don’t find glue to stick to will brush right off.
