The Marauder name was used on Mercury engines starting in 1958, and then the name was added to several Mercury cars as a trim from 1963 to 1965. Mercury brought it back as a new model from 1969 to 1970, but again sold poorly. Finally the name came back a third time in 2003 as a high-performance version of the Grand Marquis, painted all in black just like Chevrolet once did for the Impala SS.
