But danger is not the same thing as recklessness—and doing something hazardous does not automatically make it valuable training. In this video, I examine the debate over military safety, realistic training, low-level aircraft flyovers, Navy swim calls, vehicle ground guides, and the risk decisions commanders make every day. We’ll look at the Louisiana Maneuvers before World War II, a famous scene from *Black Hawk Down*, military aviation flyovers, and the constant tension between protecting people and preparing them for combat. Every military risk should purchase something: better training, greater readiness, stronger morale, or a capability we may need when the shooting starts. Safety is not woke. Risk management is not cowardice. It is how professional militaries decide which dangers are worth taking—and which ones are just stupid.
