Fly Fishing for Golden Trout in the High Sierra

Backpacking into the High Sierra is never easy, but the reward is well worth it. On this trip, we hiked to volcano meadow, deep in the Golden Trout Wilderness, to fly fish for California’s state fish, the Golden Trout. These fish live high in the mountains, in cold, clear water where few people ever go. This was a true backcountry adventure. Long miles with a pack, remote camping, and fishing wild trout in their native range. For anyone chasing the California Heritage Trout Challenge, the Golden Trout is a must!
