This is Gault's theme for the 1986 NFL Season, which ran until the 1988 AFC Championship Game. The title is 'Superbowl 17' which makes me think -- was this song composed for NBC's coverage of Super Bowl 17? NBC did air the game on January 30, 1983, in the Rose Bowl. Dick Enberg's call of John Riggins' 4th and 1 touchdown run was so memorable: "He's gonna go all the way unless Blackwood can catch him and he can't!" I think this theme WAS composed for that game. Would have gone great with those plays. But the theme did debut for Week One of the 1986 season. NBC had a version for its college football package as well that ran from 85-89. Enjoy!
