At the Dortmund trade fair, the focus is on the Schuberth C5 ANC: Schuberth invited guests for coffee – and Matthias explained the new Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) system in detail. The C5 ANC will be available in stores starting in May. It's based on a completely redesigned helmet (a proprietary product with its own homologation). Schuberth is using an integrated system: The helmet looks like a classic C5, but the interior has been completely redesigned – including 53 mm speakers (instead of 42 mm) with a large ear shield. Microphones are mounted on the speakers to detect the noise level around the rider. A computer inside the helmet distinguishes between sirens, engine noise, and wind noise, filtering out wind noise exclusively using counter-waves. Sirens and engine noise are still transmitted unfiltered. For the full "Active Noise Control" experience, you need the helmet (available in black, white, and gray) plus the SC Edge ANC communication system (bundle includes a microphone). Price according to our conversation: €799 MSRP for the helmet and €529 for the communication system. Conveniently, the speakers, antenna cable, etc., are pre-installed – the main unit is inserted at the back, and the microphone is added at the front; ready in under a minute (with a little practice).
