In an interview with the program La Noche on NTN24, Luis Francisco Ruiz Aguilar, governor of the department of Caquetá, and his counterpart from the department of Tolima, Adriana Magali Matiz, analyzed the security situation in Colombia after four years of President Gustavo Petro's administration and his failed "Total Peace" policy. According to data from the Institute for Development and Peace Studies (INDEPAZ), a total of 350 massacres with 1,219 victims have occurred during Petro's administration, which translates to an average of 7.4 massacres per month. “The Total Peace process has been a complete failure… we experience it every day in the department of Caquetá, we experienced it during the elections with the ‘vote by gun’… We expect real, strong, decisive, and sustained actions so that these (criminal) structures that have strengthened during these four years of President Petro’s administration are brought to a standstill,” Ruiz Aguilar stated. For his part, Matiz argued that the Petro administration’s flagship policy has been a complete and utter failure. “It has been a total failure because we have seen it in each of our territories… Here in Tolima, we have had FARC dissident groups, which are present in different municipalities, issue identification cards to members.
