What’s the difference between a provocation and invitation to learning?
Do you get a bit stuck on the terminology of provocation and invitation to learning? That’s ok we can understand why, it can be confusing can’t it! A provocation is provoked from the interest, urges, previous learning of the child. An invitation is a subliminal invite offered to draw a child in, to be curious and play here. What maybe a provocation for one child may also be an invitation for another. The most important thing to remember is WHY are you offering this today? What is the purpose? Whose learning style does it meet? It cannot be because WE think it looks cute or pretty. It’s NOT about us- it’s about the child!
