My First Walkaway Split Worked (And Then I Found This)
Fifteen days ago I did my first-ever walkaway split on Hive 3 to stop it from swarming. Today I just wanted to check if the new queen made it. She did. And then I found something I wasn't expecting at all — a shallow super completely packed with honey. In this episode: confirming the split worked, finding the queen, pulling honey frames by hand, the full extraction process, and a mistake I didn't catch until the very end. This is part of my BeeSoup series — documenting my first year as a beginner beekeeper, the wins and the mistakes, as I learn this along the way. #beekeeping #beginnerbeekeeper #beesoup #honeyharvest #firstyearbeekeeping
