MIM Vs MBA What To Pursue Post Engineering Ft Aditya J , HEC Paris, Amazon, TESCO, PwC

Meet Aditya Joshi, who graduated with a B.E(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani in 2018, and under a dual degree program, even completed an MSc in Physics, purely out of a passion for applied sciences. During his summer internships at Tata Motors, he realized that studying Mechanical Engineering and working in a field job in the same, are stark contrasts. While other non-CS grads bunked lectures to practice code, Aditya wasn't so sure that he wanted to jump on the bandwagon. When placements were round the corner, Aditya recounts that he was feeling quite lost about his career choices. However, with his statistical bent of mind, he tried different roles and was happy with a Business Analyst role at Tesco, Bengaluru. He was determined that he didn't want to spend the next 5 years just to meet the criteria of “average work-ex” of an MBA, and took the MiM route instead. After an exhaustive first year, Aditya went on a gap year in Luxembourg. He explored Business Intelligence at Amazon for the first six months, which he was able to get because of his prior data analysis experience. With the desire to have a glimpse of consulting, he worked as an Associate in Digital and Data Strategy at the PwC office. If it wasn't for the gap year, he wouldn't have had the best of both worlds in his career, as he mentions.
