Rolling the Dice on a John Deere Pony Motor

Detailed look at a Mystery Pony Motor I bought off Marketplace for 150 dollars. I was told it was off a late series John Deere model 720D, but no one knows if it will run. I go through the distributor, check valve lash, find some metal shavings, check the bottom end, time the engine, and find some crazy markings on the flywheel. I come to a dead end when i find out the starter needs to be rebuilt. So this episode definitely has its ups and downs.
