Le curé d'Ars, un saint pas comme les autres

"Not all saints had a good start, but they all had a good end!" joked the Curé of Ars. Saint John Vianney—known to everyone as the "holy Curé of Ars"—is certainly not a saint like any other. All the more reason to take an interest in him. From Dardilly, where he was born on May 8, 1786, to his return to heaven on August 4, 1859, the eve of which is still remembered, he murmured: "How good it is to die when one has lived on the cross!" The saint's spiritual journey took him through Écully, Verrières, Lyon, and Grenoble. Above all, it took him through Ars, and through a number of neighboring villages such as Saint-Triviers, Montmerle, Chaneins, Limas, Misérieux, and Trévoux, places where his memory remains very much alive. We travel to Ars to gather testimonies, film archival footage, and immerse ourselves in the life of the man who, on April 23, 1929, would become "the patron saint of all parish priests in the world." The life of the holy Curé of Ars is a hymn to love. Director: Armand Isnard
