Endeavor: Deep Sea Mission 2, Maps & Charts | Playthrough and Review | Bits & Biology

Welcome to Bits & Biology, a channel about board games from the perspective of a biologist gamer. In this video I play a solo game of Endeavor: Deep Sea, Mission 2: Maps and Charts. The playthrough is followed by my review of the game. Endeavor: Deep Sea is a strategy game where players are leading a scientific research institute focused on ocean research and conservation. Throughout the game you will recruit field experts and use their abilities to explore new locations, investigate dive sites, publish your research, and launch conservation efforts. Player turns in the solo game are the same as those in the multiplayer game, so this video should give you a pretty good idea of how the game plays whether you are playing solo, cooperatively, or competitively. Endeavor Deep Sea Mission 2: Maps and Charts – Only a tiny percentage of the ocean has been mapped; we’re going to try to change that today. Dust off that sonar screen, and see as much of the deep as you can! If you enjoyed the video, please let me know by giving it a thumbs up! 0:00 Introduction 0:55 Overview 2:07 Mission 2 setup 7:10 Requirements to win solo mode Gameplay 8:05 Round 1 preparation 13:41 Round 1 activation (main actions) 16:58 Round 2 preparation 19:30 Round 2 activation (main actions) 25:15 Round 3 preparation 27:31 Round 3 activation (main actions) 33:57 Round 4 preparation 36:05 Round 4 activation (main actions) 44:53 Round 5 preparation 47:16 Round 5 activation (main actions) 49:04 Round 5: 1st action (dive + travel) 50:53 Round 5: 2nd action (travel) 51:10 Round 5: 3rd action (journal) 52:36 Round 5: discussing options 53:15 Round 5: promoting R.O.V. operator 53:40 Round 5: discussing options 54:04 Round 5: 4th action (dive + conservation) 55:27 Round 6 preparation 58:53 Round 6 activation (main actions) 1:07:13 Round 7 preparation 1:12:31 Round 7 activation (main actions) 1:19:40 Thermal vents 1:20:01 Round 7 activation (continued) 1:26:04 Colossal squid 1:26:31 Jellyfish in the ocean food web 1:27:18 Round 7 activation (continued) 1:40:47 Did we win? 1:42:33 How to score multiplayer A bit of biology 1:46:25 Mapping the ocean – The real-world basis for scenario 2 1:50:00 Pictures, yes or no? 1:50:34 Deep-sea mining 1:51:20 Book recommendation 1:52:38 YouTube channel recommendations Review 1:54:12 Review: Overview 1:54:32 Review: Paths to victory 1:56:40 Review: Goals and setbacks (solo & co-op) 1:59:29 Review: Strategies 2:00:36 Review checklist 2:00:36 How many times I’ve played 2:01:48 Some random thoughts 2:04:57 Thoughts that went into purchasing the game 2:06:28 Is it fun at all player counts? 2:07:52 What do you do between turns? 2:08:28 Decisions on your turn 2:09:33 Visual appeal 2:11:15 Relationship between theme and mechanisms 2:13:32 Table presence 2:14:34 Length 2:14:53 Player interaction 2:15:17 Complexity 2:15:59 Luck vs. skill 2:16:28 Is it challenging or easy? 2:17:42 Is it unique? 2:19:00 Rulebook 2:20:21 Value 2:21:46 Final thoughts Let me know you liked the video by giving it a thumbs up!
