Paro is a historic town and valley in western Bhutan, famous for its sacred sites, terraced rice fields, and for being the home of Paro International Airport, the country’s only international gateway. It serves as the primary entry point for most travellers and is renowned for the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang), which clings to a cliff 900 metres above the valley floor. Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest): Bhutan's most famous landmark, a sacred Buddhist site where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated after flying there on a tigress. Rinpung Dzong: A massive 17th-century fortress and monastery that houses the district’s administrative and religious bodies. National Museum of Bhutan: Located in a former watchtower (Ta Dzong) above the Rinpung Dzong, it displays ancient Bhutanese artefacts, artwork, and natural history. Kyichu Lhakhang: One of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Bhutan, dating back to the 7th century.
