Vision behind the Educare Skill Initiative | Tharchen

Get to know more about the objective behind the Educare Skill initiative. This is the excerpt of the speech of our CEO, Mr. Tharchen, at the launch of Educare Skill on 21 February 2024. Educare Skill is Bhutan's first online learning platform. The platform was launched on 21st February 2024, coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King. Currently, we are focusing on creating content for children and students with the goal of providing an alternative and supplementary learning avenue. Educare Skill has developed over 1,200 visually entertaining educational content pieces. Some of these include read-aloud videos, animated series, nursery rhymes, and interactive gamified learning, all presented in Dzongkha, as well as Dzongkha lessons and tutorials for students ranging from Classes PP–XII. By next year, our platform will also offer lessons and tutorials focused on STEM subjects. Educare Skill is an initiative of iBEST Company. Since 2018, iBEST has been incubating the idea of an online learning platform. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the iBEST team closely collaborated with the former Ministry of Education to develop more than 300 e-learning video lessons. These lessons were broadcast on BBS TV and shared via social media channels for the educational benefit of children. Drawing inspiration from these experiences working with various stakeholders on children's content development and several landmark campaigns in the country, the iBEST team was determined to launch the Educare Skill initiative. After several rounds of stakeholder consultations with teachers, parents, youth, and professionals from other fields, iBEST began content production and technology development in 2021. The Educare Skill initiative is truly a "Made in Bhutan" product, with more than 150 young professionals working on the project around the clock for the past five years. The team at iBEST is committed to developing one of the most dynamic learning management systems (LMS) for our country and beyond.
