The EU Restoration Regulation is facing significant criticism, particularly regarding its application to forest ecosystems. There are concerns that it will offer little to no benefit to forests in terms of biodiversity conservation, aside from a massive increase in bureaucracy. But what about intensively farmed agricultural landscapes? Numerous funding instruments already exist to subsidize agricultural production in this sector. In this video, we explore whether it might be possible to integrate the EU Restoration Regulation with the funding instruments of the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) and make intensively farmed agricultural landscapes, which suffer from significant biodiversity problems, more "natural" or at least more diverse.
