From Golden Child to Scapegoat Overnight

In my previous video, I promised to tell a story from my own family. This is the story. When I was growing up, my aunt suddenly shifted me into the role of the "golden child" while pushing her own daughter--one of the cousins who helped raise me--out of that role. The result was years of manipulation, comparison, and attempts to create resentment between us. What makes this story remarkable is that, for a very long time, it didn't work. My cousin treated me with kindness, patience, and generosity. Many of the social skills, manners, and 'graces' people see in me today were learned directly from her . In this video, I explore how family systems can create competition where none originally exists, how golden-child and scapegoat dynamics damage everyone involved, and that some people refuse to become what the family system demands, even if only for a while.
