POUR QUE VOTRE ART SOIT VU ET VENDU, EXPOSEZ...C'EST LE SECRET (ART CLASSE - PEINDRE AVEC LO)

TO GET YOUR ART SEEN AND SOLD, EXHIBIT IT...THAT'S THE SECRET (ART CLASS - PAINTING WITH LO) I see the life of an artist as a wonderful adventure. As an artist, I spend most of my time in my studio, but when the good weather arrives, when the warm season finally appears after the long winter and late spring months, I leave home to pursue my other way of life. Festivals multiply, and with them, opportunities to showcase the work created during the fall and winter. Last month, I took you with me to the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, to Lac-Bouchette and Roberval. I participated in an event with about forty other artists. This month, I'm showing you my corner of the country. I particularly love Cap-Rouge, which is located near the St. Lawrence River. This is the very westernmost point of Quebec City, near Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures. I've been participating in the Découvr'Arts Festival for several years. I'm always located under the big tent, in front of Marguerite-D'Youville School, right in the heart of Cap-Rouge, on Provancher Street, the main street of Old Cap-Rouge, a stone's throw from the old Saint-Félix Church in Cap-Rouge, almost under the tram and right next to the marina. You can get there via Boulevard de la Chaudière and take the small bridge for a walk or bike ride along the Cap-Rouge River, whose path leads to the church at the heart of the event. Usually, about a hundred artists and craftspeople are present. It's a beautiful part of Quebec City. It's usually a quiet neighborhood. I've lived here for several years. My studio is located on Escoffier Street, near the Roger-Lemelin Library, not far from the end of the tram line that leads to Promenade-des-Soeurs Street. Visitors can make an appointment. There was a time when I only did one symposium a year; this was it. Now, I do more, with solo and group exhibitions, art fairs and shows in Europe, exhibitions in galleries, museums, and so on. I do about a dozen events between May and October on two continents at the same time, and some of them are permanent exhibitions. Doing a symposium is just a small part of my work as an artist. This allows me to have direct contact with people, to ask them what they like about visual arts, to learn from their professional experience, to share travel experiences and memories. Some even advise me to visit certain places to see seascapes… exchanging ideas is always enriching. Human-to-human contact is the best way to create lasting bonds. Some art lovers and collectors come from far away every year, just to see my work. I also see familiar faces who return year after year. The regulars never miss an edition. They're there. We recognize each other. We greet each other. We chat. A large part of my work involves talking about art, about projects, exhibitions, events, and the places I'll be during the summer. It also allows us, as artists, to reconnect with other artists, friends, acquaintances we've met at other symposiums. It creates connections. A symposium is a simple way for me to showcase my work, and a simple way for art lovers and collectors to see it. I'm always available to chat and answer questions. Even though I travel to other regions during the summer and fall, it's never a vacation. An artist works all the time. Being a professional artist is a constant job. You never stop. I've shared a slice of life with you, from my corner of the world to Quebec. I hope you enjoyed it. See you on another adventure outside the studio.
