Wax stuck to glass: Trying to fix lava lamp with dish soap
I bought another used lava lamp on a local online marketplace. This one was in much better condition than the last, but it had some wax stuck to the glass that refused to move. I tried to add some soap to the liquid in the lamp to get the wax off, which didn't affect the stuck wax at all, but substantially changed the flow of the lava. In the end, I just "blew" the stuck wax off with a pipette. Not the most elegant solution, but it worked out alright. On the plus side, I now have first-hand information on how lava lamps react to surfactant. 0:00 Intro 0:39 Removing bottle cap 0:48 Mixing soap solution 1:03 Adding soap 2:45 Putting bottle cap back on 2:55 Analyzing flow changes 3:22 Outro
