How Dark is Dark Enough? Darkness level requirements for plants with Dr. Bruce Bugbee
In this video, Dr. Bruce Bugbee discusses how sensitive different types of crops are to light pollution during their prescribed dark periods. This lecture is not about photoperiod requirements, but the tolerance different species have to even a tiny light leak at night. Light leaks can be devastating to flowering and can even cause hermaphrodites. Bruce describes the research that has been done on this topic, as well as gives a rules-of-thumb for light pollution and shows some instruments that can be used to ensure your plants are getting the level of darkness they need for maximum health.
