Mike Winger Says Paul Proves the Gospels… Here’s What He Leaves Out

Can Paul actually prove the historical Jesus — or is Mike Winger reading too much into Paul’s letters? In this video, I react to Mike Winger’s argument that skeptics are wrong when they say Paul did not know much about Jesus. Mike argues that Paul’s letters show early knowledge of Jesus’ life, teachings, death, burial, resurrection, lineage, disciples, betrayal, and the Lord’s Supper. But here is the question we are testing: Does Paul knowing traditions about Jesus mean Paul taught the same message as Jesus? Paul’s undisputed letters are earlier than the written Gospels, and that matters. But being early does not automatically mean Paul confirms the Gospel stories. It means we have to slow down and ask what Paul actually says, what he does not say, and whether the apologetic argument goes further than the evidence allows.
